Botox Hot Spots

By Anka Sanori

Botox injections are frequently used for many cosmetic applications. In the last few years there has been a significant increase in its use with more and more people seeking to change the way they look and shave off years with this simple and quick treatment. The reason for this primarily lies with how quickly the procedure can be performed, how simple the entire process is, the excellent result and the low cost associated with botox.

Their most common site botox application is to the muscles and skin on the face, helping relax them and reducing the presence of fine lines and wrinkles. There are three main sites that are most commonly injected:

- Forehead wrinkles

- Crow's feet lines around the eyes

- Vertical '11' lines between eyebrows

Forehead wrinkles

This is probably the most common site amongst the three above where botox is injected, and is commonly called frown lines. The forehead muscles are constantly being used and the skin and muscles are constantly under stress, so it is natural for frown lines and wrinkles to form. It is considered one of the first signs of ageing, which is why this is targeted first. And patients also seem to find forehead lines the most troublesome amongst all facial creases. This simple, quick and effective treatment does not even require anaesthesia. With effects that can last up to 6 months, the crease-free look can be maintained with repeat injections.

Crow's feet lines around the eyes

Crow's feet refer to fine lines that form at the corners of the eyes due to constant muscle use. As a sign of aging, it is unfortunate yet unavoidable. Botox injections restore the look of younger, healthier skin by effectively reducing these lines, all without giving the skin a stretched appearance. After frown lines, it appears that crow's feet treatment is often sought after as they are very common. Effects can last for a period of up to 6 months following which additional treatments may be required, as is the case with other botox treatments.

Vertical '11' lines

The two lines between the eyebrows that form when frowning are called vertical '11' lines. The depth of these lines can be reduced with Botox injections, and effectively smoothed out. Performing this procedure takes 10 or 15 minutes, with excellent results.

These are the top 3 sites where botox is injected on the face. Botox injections around the mouth may be performed, and there are other sites like chin lifts, although these are much less common.

Conclusion

When it comes to achieving great cosmetic results that will result in younger looking skin devoid of fine lines and wrinkles, Botox still remains one of the most preferred treatments.
