The Different Types Of Arch Supports For Flat Feet

By Cathy Mercer

Fallen arches happen to be very common in today's day and age. Because of this, there are now a wide array of products available that provide arch supports for flat feet to correct this problem and restore the proper foot functions. These are probably the commonly used devices to correct this particular problem overall.

Most of the time, arch supports exist in the form of tools that can be placed into shoes to give arches additional support as needed. At the same time, they can also correct foot functions on different levels. The main uses of these supports, though, is to provide proper stability while walking, running or standing.

For sports lovers, there are different types of devices that can cushion the heels as they do their favorite sports. There are even devices that can reduce leg fatigue and help with shock absorption. The ones that you choose should depend on the kind of sport that you are into overall.

Runner insoles are more specially made to achieve better motion control. For soccer players, they are made to protect feet against pressure, as well as provide good biomechanics control. The ones for court players exist for better ankle dorsiflexion.

Dress arch supports are the ones made for fashionable shoes. These are most commonly use by men who wear narrow and tight dress shoes and women who love to wear high heels. These particular insoles are thinner and narrower than usual, so they won't provide as much support as the sports ones. However, their shape fits restrictive footwear perfectly, thus providing continuous correction for today's more fashionable shoes.

For regular daily use, it would be best to opt for casual supports, though. These devices can be slipped into any types of shoes, in general. You just need to trim them down to size as needed, so that they can fit comfortably into them.

Work arch supports are especially made for work shoes that need to be worn all day. They can correct foot alignment and provide extra cushioning and support at the same time. They also ensure that restrictive work shoes end up fitting more comfortably, as well. Although best for anybody with fallen arches, anybody can use them for extra support and cushioning for their tired feet.

If you can't find the type of devices that you need to make you feel great all day every day, then you should make it a point to get orthotic insoles made for the utmost support and protection for your feet. With customize supports, you can correct your gait and avoid excessive pronation. Naturally, these insoles will cost a bit more, though.

Most of the time, these devices are made with the help of a customized mold of your foot. They tend to be a little more rigid compared to regular insoles, too, and work more as corrective arch supports for flat feet than anything else.
