Kettlebell Workout Routines For Supreme Fitness And Strength

By Chris Rivers

A kettlebell, also known as a girya, is a spherical iron ball, with an attached handle that used for kettlebell workout routines. Kettle bells originated from Russia in the 1700s. The use of them in sports and competition in Russia was very common in 1940s. At this time, they were measured in poods, and are still measured in poods today.

For a long time this highly effective training device, however, was forgotten. Within the last few years, though, it has made a strong comeback and it is making a name for itself for those looking to lose weight and tone up.

Also they were used for counter weight in the shipping yards. These iron balls have been used in Russia for a long time. In the US they are relatively new. Today, the Russian Military requires that their recruits use kettlebells in training. In the U.S the FBI Assault Team requires that their students train in with them as they know of their amazing fitness benefits.

Most of the bells are cast in iron, either hollow or solid, but they're also available in rubber or with a neoprene or vinyl covering. Sets of hollow cast kettle bells are all the same size, each progressively heavier piece being less hollow than the previous. The consistency of size automatic to this form is often preferred over the solid cast, and therefore differently sized, versions and the adjustment from one size piece to the next seems to be the major differentiation. The type of bell someone finds to best fit them depends solely on that person's preferences or what their workout needs are. There is no better or worse version of them, only what may or may not work for each individual.

If the goal of a person's workout is centered more on cardiovascular fitness, then they are still the right workout tool. The movements inherent to using kettlebells are, if not easier, than certainly more fun to execute than some other comparable weight systems. The swinging motion often used provides a fluid, even, low-impact workout that aids in getting one's heart into shape. Practicing with a kettle bell set is more akin to dancing than running or jogging, and therefore easier on one's feet, ankles, knees, hips and other joints.

It is easy to see why they have been a fixture in the physical fitness world for centuries now. This versatile, practical, easy to use equipment provides all the same advantages as dumbbells, and oftentimes more completely fulfills the specific workout needs of the individual, even for an assortment of different fitness goals. Whether a person wants to weight train, gain or maintain a desirable physical physique, or just improve their cardiovascular fitness, a kettlebell workout routine can help accomplish what needs to be done.
