To Successfully Reverse Insulin Resistance

By Eliza Mendoza

Health problems that are preventable are difficult to treat and manage once they develop into more advanced stages. Today, the society faces an unprecedented amount of obese people at risk of contracting advance forms of diabetes. This is because most obese people already suffer from a syndrome called reverse insulin resistance. This syndrome is a precursor to diabetes. Therefore, it is of vital importance that preventive efforts that will reverse the phenomenon be adapted.

The functions of this hormone within the body have to be fully understood in order to comprehend this problem. First of all, it is a hormone secreted in the pancreas and its purpose is to aid cell receptors capture glucose molecules from the blood stream. The pancreas cells first detect glucose in the blood and then release it so that the body can harness energy from the blood sugars. If this mechanism fails then it is termed as insulin resistance.

There are a number of ways to undo this phenomenon. Physical exercise is the most recommended way as most people suffering from this condition are overweight or obese. This is because excess fat tissue has excess glucose within and this leads the pancreas to produce excess amounts of the hormone in order to counter balance it. If they stay inactive, these levels continue to increase resulting in the health issues stated above.

Secondly, eating of appropriate diet can greatly reverse this condition. One should avoid diets with a high glycemic load. This diet has a bigger percentage of processed sugars and carbohydrates and should be avoided completely. One should instead eat whole foods, that is, a diet that is high on fiber, vegetables, and low in sugars and flours. These foods promote healthy metabolism and thus aiding in undoing the situation.

Seamlessly working with the diet taken is the nutritional supplements individuals elect to take. One should research on the appropriate supplements available as they have superb abilities in correcting its levels. For instance, processed foods lack chromium therefore, it is advisable to patients that favor them to seek other additional sources. This is because chromium revitalizes the tolerance factor of this hormone in cell membranes.

A high correlation exists between stress levels and insulin resistance. It is therefore ideal to regularly manage stressful situation in order to rein in its effects. These effects can be very debilitating because they routinely disrupt various body metabolisms. Mostly, stress leads to rapid and irregular increases in blood sugars thereby sending different wrong messages to the pancreas cells. This can permanently damage the pancreas.

Lastly, doctors should simply recommend various pharmaceutical drugs to these patients. Obviously, it should be used as the last resort because drugs treat the symptoms instead of the cause. They also pose more threat to the individuals by subjecting them to more weight gain and high risk of heart failures. However, new drugs are produced currently that have less of these effects.

These are all preventive methods that should be adapted for the mitigation of the effects stated above. Failure to early reverse insulin resistance leads to difficulties in the protection and saving of lives. This is because diabetes subjects deadly effects to the patients.
