Have You Heard All The Talk About The HCG Diet?

By Riley T. Simonis

The HCG diet is a low-calorie diet helped by special drops. Lower calorie intake causes the body to burn stored fat for energy when the day's complete calorie intake has been used. Low calorie diets alone force the body to burn more fat when calories run out, but the addition of the special drops helps to maintain muscle mass during this process. HCG drops help in easing any negative side effects, like irritability or fatigue normally associated with low-calorie diets. While on the HCG diet, the body restructures the way it usually uses stored fat and daily calorie intake. The implication phase, the training of the metabolism and the maintenance phase are the three stages used in the special diet plan.

In the first part of the special diet, the first two days consist of an increased calorie intake along with initiation of HCG drops. The first phase of the diet helps to re-set the body's natural way of handling calorie intake and burning fat, which will be utilized in the low-calorie portion of the diet. Hunger during the low-calorie stage of the diet is lessened because of the initial high calorie intake during the initial phase. During the second part of the special diet, the body is starting to use stored fat as fuel and the initiation of a low-calorie diet will help to ensure that it continues to do so.

Once the drops have triggered the body's metabolism to restructure as a fat-burning machine, the maintenance part of the diet commences. Calorie intake begins to increase back to normal levels, and the use of formula is no longer necessary in the maintenance stage of the special diet.

The body's new, rearranged fat-burning process should not be disrupted by higher calorie intake, and the increase needs to be done slowly. During the maintenance phase of the diet, weight should be monitored carefully to confirm that the body's restructured metabolism is preserved throughout the calorie increase.

Because of the low-calorie intake during the diet plan, only light exercise is recommended for the physical activity portion of the diet. As the body is already burning stored fat because of the lower-calorie intake, heavy exercise might cause fatigue and starvation The program has no recognized side effects and, when used by women, the hormones in the drops have no effect on the menstrual cycle. Higher calorie intakes needed for nourishment during pregnancy cause the the plan to produce little to no results if used by pregnant women.
